About / Dr. Pjotrs Grišins

A scientist’s curiosity.
An engineer’s
practical mindset.

I connect deep technical work with the needs of a business, from understanding the customer’s problem to delivering software that people use.

Dr. Pjotrs Grišins

Background

From quantum physics
to industrial AI.

My background combines a PhD in Physics from the Technical University of Vienna, academic research across Europe, and more than nine years in industrial R&D. I work across machine learning, computer vision, algorithms and software delivery, with a focus on making complex technology useful.

At X-Rite in Regensdorf, I have developed models for automotive paint search and formulation, brought algorithms into cloud and embedded environments, and coordinated software delivery across international teams. I work closely with customers, sales, product managers and engineers to turn requirements into technical priorities.

I combine hands-on implementation with technical guidance and mentoring. My approach is to establish a baseline, understand the tradeoffs, and build evidence through reproducible experiments and evaluation.

Selected achievements

Research translated
into working systems.

Custom vision models in production

Built the pipeline from customer data collection and dataset provenance through PyTorch model training, validation and deployment on AWS.

Physics-informed machine learning

Combined physical models with neural networks for industrial paint formulation, bringing domain knowledge into the modelling process.

Customer-facing software delivery

Coordinated requirements, development and QA for a software solution delivered on time, working with teams across three countries.

Computational research

Authored multiple refereed scientific publications. Researched quantum nanotechnology and atomtronics in Vienna, Trento and Geneva, closely collaborating with experimental researchers. Developed and applied novel numerical simulation and Monte Carlo methods.

Beyond the technical work

I enjoy making complex ideas understandable, whether I’m speaking with customers, collaborating with engineers or presenting to a research audience. I listen carefully, adapt the explanation to the audience, and help people build a shared understanding so they can make informed decisions.
